Gold firms as falling oil cools the inflation debate
Spot gold rose about 0.3% to roughly $4,152 an ounce and gold futures added 0.5% on Tuesday, as a decline in crude oil eased some inflation pressure on markets. West Texas Intermediate traded near $89.87, down about 0.5%, while Brent hovered around $97. The softer energy complex offered modest relief after a stretch in which surging oil prices and multi-decade-high Treasury yields had clouded the outlook for interest rates. Gold's advance was modest, with traders still focused on inflation data due later in the week.
