Saudi East–West pipeline shut after Iraq-origin drone strike removes main Hormuz workaround
Saudi Arabia confirmed on Friday that several drones launched from Iraqi territory hit its 1,200 km East–West pipeline in the Riyadh and Medina regions, and Riyadh shut the line as a precaution, removing a corridor that had been moving 4–5 million barrels a day, or roughly 4% of global supply, since the Strait of Hormuz was disrupted. Iraq's prime minister dismissed security commanders in the launch area and ordered three border crossings with Iran closed; three Iran-backed faction commanders told The New Region the attack was carried out by a network linked to a senior IRGC officer.
