US August CPI release on Friday set to test Fed rate-cut bets after ECB hike
The US Bureau of Labor Statistics will publish the August 2026 Consumer Price Index at 8:30 a.m. ET on Friday, the final major inflation print before the Federal Reserve's September 16 FOMC decision. Consensus looks for headline CPI of +0.4 percent month-on-month and +3.4 percent year-on-year, with core CPI expected at +0.2 percent m/m and +2.4 percent y/y, against a backdrop of fresh Brent oil above $100 and yesterday's ECB rate increase.
