Microsoft locks in 100,000+ Nvidia GB300 chips via $19.4B Nebius deal
Microsoft agreed a five-year, up-to-$19.4 billion arrangement with neocloud operator Nebius Group, securing access to more than 100,000 Nvidia GB300 accelerators for its internal large-language-model and consumer AI teams. The capacity is meant to relieve a data-center crunch that has forced Microsoft to rent power elsewhere, freeing its own server farms for paid AI services. Nebius shares jumped about 16-19% on the September 8 announcement, which stopped short of disclosing the exact chip and power schedule.
