Weekly Technology: September opens with two platform resets — Apple's first foldable silicon and Nvidia's local-AI PC push
The first full week of September crystallises two parallel resets in consumer technology. On 3 September, Nvidia used IFA Berlin to confirm its RTX Spark Windows PCs will ship in October from eight OEMs with a one-petaflop RTX Blackwell GPU, up to 128 GB of unified memory and a 20-core Grace CPU; the company also open-sourced RTX PAIR, a free router that spreads local inference across RTX and Apple Silicon PCs on a home network. Apple followed with invitations to its Surprise and Shine event, where the iPhone 18 Pro and the first foldable iPhone Ultra are expected.
