Rivian buys a UK world-model startup to build driving simulations
Rivian acquired Third Dimension, a 15-person British startup that turns images and video into three-dimensional worlds, to sharpen simulation for driver assistance and the robotaxis it plans to supply to Uber. Terms were not disclosed. The team joins Rivian's autonomy and AI group under James Philbin and expands its London hub. Rivian says its customer fleet uploads more than 400,000 data sequences a day and it plans hands-free surface-street driving this year.
