OpenAI opens its Decisions API to every customer
OpenAI made its Decisions API generally available, entering a market for small, fast models that pick among options and report a confidence instead of writing prose. Announced at its 29 September developer day, the product reuses ChatGPT Luna with faster inference: product lead Nikunj Handa says calls that took one to three seconds now return in 100 to 180 milliseconds. Box, Datadog, Ramp and Speak tested it; Speak cut action latency from 1.4 seconds to 0.13.
