Gold steadies above $4,150 as markets wait on U.S. inflation
Gold held above $4,150 an ounce on Wednesday as a softer dollar offered support and traders waited for the September U.S. consumer price report. Rising oil prices have stoked inflation worries and lifted expectations of another Federal Reserve rate increase, with markets assigning roughly an 88 percent chance of a December hike. New York Fed President John Williams said he sees one more hike as appropriate this year but no further tightening in 2027.
