Nvidia in early talks to buy or deepen its stake in open-weight lab Reflection AI
Nvidia is in early talks to buy Reflection AI or increase its stake in the open-weight model developer, the Financial Times reported on 10 October. Reflection, founded in 2024 by two former Google DeepMind researchers, has already taken about $800m from Nvidia and has just released its first model, Beam, a 501-billion-parameter mixture-of-experts design with roughly 23 billion active parameters. Structures on the table include a full acquisition, a larger equity stake, extra chip supply, or an acqui-hire that would avoid a long regulatory review.
