Gold rebounds as record fund inflows meet a 5% Treasury market
Gold and silver rebounded from two-month lows as long-dated Treasury yields eased from multi-decade highs, with spot gold up about 1.5% near $4,194 an ounce on 11 October and silver up almost 3% at about $60.70. The World Gold Council reported record quarterly inflows into physically backed gold funds of $31bn, including $10bn in September even as prices fell 8.5%. The bounce stays hostage to rate expectations: September US consumer price data is due on 14 October, ahead of the Fed's 27-28 October meeting.
