Stocks hold near records as Treasury yields climb and gold stays high
Wall Street closed near its highs, with the S&P 500 at 7,773.95, up 0.66%, and the Nasdaq up 1.05% as technology led. The 10-year Treasury yield rose to 5.31%, close to its highest since 2002, and gold eased to about $4,134 an ounce. A firm US services prices reading kept the debate over a Federal Reserve rate move alive, while a federal government shutdown running into a second week has withheld key economic data from markets.
