US and Japan widen 'super intelligence' technology alliance
The United States and Japan set out fresh steps under their Technology Prosperity Deal, covering artificial intelligence, quantum technology, telecoms, biotechnology and space. A joint statement said the two sides will deepen dialogue on 'super intelligence', work toward shared industry standards and promote trusted AI adoption across the Indo-Pacific. They also signed a protocol on October 2 indefinitely extending a 1988 science and technology cooperation agreement with updated intellectual property protections.
