Nasdaq sets a record close but Seoul's Kospi stalls at 7,000
A record closing high on the Nasdaq failed to carry into Seoul, where the Kospi opened higher and then slipped to 7,000.99 in early trade on its first session after a long holiday. Foreign investors sold, and chipmaker SK hynix fell about 1.5% as it tracked weak US memory peers rather than Nvidia. Samsung Electronics edged up ahead of its third-quarter preliminary earnings, while the tech-heavy Kosdaq rose 2.4%.
