OpenAI and Synopsys unveil GPT-Synopsys to automate chip design
Synopsys and OpenAI announced a multi-year partnership under which OpenAI will license Synopsys' chip-design software to build GPT-Synopsys, a specialised model trained to operate electronic design automation tools and weigh the trade-offs involved in semiconductor design. The companies plan to sell it as a service bundling computing, model access and software licences, and said early engagements with leading chip customers are underway. OpenAI co-founder Greg Brockman said the goal is to shave weeks or months from the design cycle.
