Wall Street waits on the September jobs report
The September employment report is due at 8:30 a.m. Eastern on Friday, and economists expect hiring to slow after August's upside surprise. FactSet's consensus points to roughly 95,000 new jobs with the unemployment rate holding at 4.1%, according to Morningstar, while published tracker estimates range from about 90,000 to 120,000. Payrolls rose 162,000 in August and average hourly earnings were up 3.1% year on year. The print is the last major labour-market release before the Federal Reserve's late-October decision.
