Asian shares slip and Brent tops $106 as doubts grow over a US-Iran truce
Asia-Pacific equities were mostly lower on Monday and bonds stayed under pressure after Washington rejected an Iranian plan to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Brent crude rose 2.1 percent to $106.49 a barrel, taking this month's gain to almost 18 percent, while US crude added 1.5 percent to $93.84. Japan's Nikkei was flat, South Korea's market slid 2.4 percent, Chinese blue chips fell 1.4 percent and S&P 500 futures were down 0.3 percent.
