AMD publishes its first EPYC Venice benchmarks, claiming 2.24x the throughput of Nvidia's 88-core Vera CPU
AMD released its first official EPYC 9006 'Venice' benchmarks on 18 September, putting a 256-core EPYC 9996 at 2.37x the throughput of Intel's 96-core Xeon 6980P and 2.24x that of Nvidia's 88-core Arm-based Vera CPU on SPEC CPU 2026 Integer Rate, with a separate 96-core Venice part about 20% faster per core than Vera. It is the first chipmaker benchmark framing Nvidia's CPU business as a rival worth beating. AMD used GCC 16.1 for Venice and GCC 15.2 for Vera, folding compiler maturity into the ratio; Intel and Nvidia have not published counter-benchmarks.
