Microsoft targets September Maia 300 debut as TSMC courts 300,000-unit capacity and Dresden fab tops out
Microsoft could unveil its next-generation Maia 300 AI accelerator as early as this month and is in talks with TSMC to secure capacity for more than 300,000 units for 2027 delivery, according to Reuters and The Information. TSMC topped out its Dresden fab on the same timeline and is preparing CoWoS-S advanced packaging to support Maia 300 and Google's TPU 8 family, with Morgan Stanley estimating Google could produce more than 5 million TPUs next year. TrendForce noted that Microsoft has already approached Anthropic and other major cloud customers about Maia 300 deployments.
