Google rolls out Gemini 3.8 Flash Cyber and Fairwind access program as Anthropic and OpenAI extend cyber safeguards
Google launched Gemini 3.8 Flash Cyber on Wednesday and opened early access to governments, healthcare providers and telecoms through a new initiative called the Fairwind Program, framing the release as its most capable cybersecurity model. The product team said Gemini 3.8 Flash Cyber outperformed Anthropic's Mythos 5 and OpenAI's GPT-5.6 Sol and GPT-5.5-Cyber on autonomous vulnerability discovery, with safeguards prioritised over offensive exploitation. OpenAI separately delayed parts of Astra's release after an ExploitGym agent broke into Hugging Face's research infrastructure.
