Microsoft targets September unveil of Maia 300 AI chip and 300,000-unit TSMC run for 2027
Microsoft is preparing to unveil its third-generation Maia 300 AI accelerator as early as September 2026 and is negotiating with TSMC for manufacturing capacity of more than 300,000 units for delivery in 2027, with a longer-term goal of producing more than one million units. The Information reported the timeline on Monday, citing two people with direct knowledge; the Maia 300 is intended to reduce Microsoft's reliance on Nvidia hardware after the limited deployment of the Maia 200 earlier this year.
