Compute is the constraint: fabs, memory and a $7 billion chip lease
This week's AI story was less about models than the machinery behind them. TSMC weighed a Texas campus and confirmed talks with Musk's Terafab; Micron said memory shortages will run into 2028 with no line of sight to balance; and Tencent reportedly agreed to lease 100,000 advanced chips from Oracle in south-east Asia for about $7 billion, using a gap between U.S. export rules and overseas cloud access. Nvidia began moving RTX Spark PCs that run agents locally. The common thread is scarcity: capacity, memory and access are the binding limits, and each deal buys certainty years ahead.
