SpaceX asks for half of America's cell towers
SpaceX is in talks to lease at least 80,000 US cell sites, roughly half the country's 158,500 towers, as it builds toward a fourth national carrier, Bloomberg reported. Crown Castle is among the landlords in discussions; its chief executive told analysts to assume the company is 'talking to all parties'. Tower owners rallied on the prospect of a new tenant while AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile fell. Nothing is signed, and the sites would pair with direct-to-cell satellites.
