Recursive ships Flint, a laptop coding model built largely by its own AI
Recursive released Flint, a free Apache 2.0 coding model small enough for a laptop, saying its Eureka Machine research system touched nearly every stage of development and that a small team built it from scratch in under four months. Flint is a mixture-of-experts design activating 2.5 billion of its 40 billion parameters at a time, generating about 131 tokens a second on a MacBook Pro with an M4 Pro chip in company tests, roughly double comparable models. Recursive says it led models under 50 billion parameters on SWE-Bench Verified, though it needs more guidance than paid assistants.
