Waymo plans to take its fleet from 4,000 cars to 20,000 by late 2027
Waymo intends to grow from about 4,000 vehicles to 8,000 by the end of this year and 20,000 by the end of 2027, financed in part by $5 billion it borrowed this month, according to people familiar with the plan. The company, which runs in 15 US cities and is expanding to Toronto, declined to comment and has said publicly only that the money is for growth at home and abroad. Fleet operations, depots and charging capacity become the constraint at that scale.
