Waymo begins the road toward Toronto robotaxi tests
Waymo says it has received approval to join Ontario’s automated-vehicle pilot and will begin by manually driving vehicles in Toronto to build high-definition maps. Public-road testing with a safety operator is planned before any driverless service, making the Canadian expansion a measured sequence of mapping, supervised trials and eventual commercial validation rather than an immediate launch.
