Gartner sees $1.3tn of chip revenue in 2026 as the memory crunch reaches consumers
Gartner expects the semiconductor industry to collect about $1.3 trillion of revenue in 2026, the largest growth in two decades and a 64% year-over-year rise. Memory, not logic, is doing much of the heavy lifting: data-centre memory carries higher margins than consumer-grade parts, so makers such as Micron, Samsung and SK Hynix are prioritising AI servers. Micron retired its Crucial consumer memory brand to concentrate on data-centre chips, and the squeeze is now visible in consumer prices for laptops and phones.
