Google and Constellation sign a 20-year nuclear deal to feed AI data centres
Google contracted 3,590 megawatts of power from Constellation Energy on the largest US grid, including a 20-year purchase agreement for 890 MW of new nuclear capacity from uprates at 11 reactors in Illinois, Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Constellation called it more than $4.3bn of new investment and said the first uprate should deliver by 2028; a separate 15-year deal covers 2,700 MW of existing supply. The companies will also put Google Cloud's Gemini Enterprise agents to work on plant operations. The deal answers PJM's bring-your-own-power push as data-centre demand climbs.
