Super Micro contractor pleads guilty in $2.5bn Nvidia-server diversion to China
A contractor linked to Super Micro Computer has pleaded guilty in a scheme to illegally export servers containing advanced Nvidia AI chips to China, a court filing unsealed on October 9 showed. Reuters reported that Ting-Wei 'Willy' Sun entered the plea in US District Court in Manhattan. Prosecutors charged Sun and two others in March, including a Super Micro co-founder, over roughly $2.5 billion of AI technology allegedly diverted through a Southeast Asian intermediary in violation of US export laws.
