Spain and England close the Nations League group stage on top after late drama
Spain preserved a two-and-a-half-year unbeaten run by rallying to beat Croatia 2-1 in Split on October 6, substitute Mikel Merino scoring twice after Ivan Perisic had put Croatia ahead. England finished their group campaign with a 3-0 win over Czechia at Wembley, Harry Kane scoring twice on his record-equalling 125th cap to reach 91 international goals. Spain top the group with 12 points and England, on nine, joined Portugal in sealing a quarter-final place.
