Micron warns memory shortages will persist into 2028
Micron told investors on its fiscal fourth-quarter earnings call that memory and storage supply will stay tighter in 2027 and 2028 than in 2026, with demand exceeding supply and 'no line of sight' to a balance. More than 75% of the chipmaker's planned 2027 output is already committed, and it reported record quarterly revenue of about $54 billion with an adjusted gross margin near 86%. New factories in Idaho, Japan, Singapore and New York will not begin to ease availability before 2028 at the earliest.
