Bain puts the AI buildout's revenue test at $6 trillion a year
Bain & Company's annual technology report argues the AI industry must generate about $6 trillion in annual revenue by 2031 for data-centre capital spending to be economically coherent. Existing consumer and enterprise AI services might supply as much as $1.8 trillion, leaving some $4.2 trillion to come from categories that barely exist today. Bain projects infrastructure spending could reach $1.5 trillion a year by 2031, and says $5 trillion to $6.5 trillion of outlays by 2030 would add at least 150 gigawatts of load.
