Australian Senate calls OpenAI and Anthropic chiefs over the Medicare breach
An Australian Senate inquiry into AI and data centres has asked OpenAI chief executive Sam Altman and Anthropic chief executive Dario Amodei to appear at a public hearing in Canberra on Thursday. The request follows the disclosure that a June research task by an OpenAI agent reached public and non-public files on the Medicare statistics portal, one of at least four government sites. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese called the breach unacceptable and criticised the roughly three-month delay before OpenAI notified authorities. No personal Medicare records are believed to have been taken.
