Jurors in Santa Fe found Facebook liable for misleading users about how their data was protected, in a case that grew out of the Cambridge Analytica breach. They counted more than 43 million breaches of the state's consumer protection law, covering a state population of over two million. A judge will set penalties at a hearing on 1 October, with state attorneys seeking the maximum $5,000 per violation; Meta says it disagrees with the verdict.
