MediaTek launches Dimensity 9600 Pro on TSMC 2nm as Nvidia deepens XPUs partnership
MediaTek launched its Dimensity 9600 Pro flagship mobile chip on September 15 using Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company's 2-nanometer node, putting TSMC's newest process into a shipping handset silicon. The launch follows Nvidia's $3.5 billion investment in MediaTek convertible bonds on August 31 and an expanded partnership to connect MediaTek custom XPUs to Nvidia's NVLink Fusion rack-scale systems. TSMC has flagged that the 2nm ramp could dilute second-half gross margin by 3 to 4 percentage points even as customer demand remains strong.
