Google opens Home MCP to Claude, ChatGPT and other AI agents
Google on Tuesday opened early access to a Model Context Protocol server for its Google Home ecosystem, allowing MCP-compatible agents including Anthropic's Claude, OpenAI's ChatGPT and Google's own Antigravity to read device state, review camera history and execute control actions across Nest-style smart-home devices. The server is hosted at home.googleapis.com/mcp with the OAuth scope home.platform.v2, and access is gated to Google Home Premium Advanced subscribers at US$20 per month, rolling out in English over the coming weeks in the United States.
