Nvidia confirms $12.93 billion acquisition of Hugging Face, pledging the open-model hub stays multicloud and open
Nvidia said on 3 September it agreed to acquire Hugging Face for USD 12.93 billion in cash and equity, with USD 11.9 billion in cash to shareholders and up to USD 1 billion in retention equity, according to an SEC filing the same day. CEO Jensen Huang said the platform will remain open, multicloud and continue serving PyTorch, JAX and ONNX stacks. The deal is among Nvidia's largest acquisitions to date and brings the most-used model hub under the same roof as the dominant AI accelerator supplier.
