NYT investigation: Inspur's US unit Aivres routed more than $3 billion of Nvidia Blackwell servers to Alibaba and ByteDance data centres
A New York Times investigation with ImportGenius trade records shows Aivres, the Fremont, California-based US subsidiary of blacklisted Inspur Group, exported at least USD 5.6 billion of advanced technology to Southeast Asia between April 2024 and February 2026, including more than USD 3 billion of computers built with Nvidia Blackwell chips, ultimately serving Alibaba and ByteDance data centres. Federal officials told the Times a probe into Aivres is under way; in June 2026 the Defense Department added Inspur Group to the Section 1260H list of Chinese military companies.
