IBM survey finds 76% of US middle-school teachers now use AI weekly, but only 20% have had extensive training
IBM's Morning Consult poll of 2,048 US adults released on 2 September 2026 found that 76% of middle-school and 73% of high-school classroom educators use AI at least weekly, against only 20% of K-12 teachers who say they have received extensive AI training. Forty-two percent cite lack of training as the top barrier to building AI literacy, and 41% of both educators and parents point to middle school as the stage at which students should first learn about AI; IBM also launched the K-12 AI leaders fellowship for superintendents and district leaders to support responsible adoption.
